Well, my first post...

I came to this site in search of a specific brand and type, but I never realised the extent of the population of fine beer drinkers in Toronto. I should've found this place years ago!

Anyway, I know that the LCBO has a pitifully poor selection of Hacker Pschorr and Schneider brand wheat beers. It's made even more sad by a visit to their German language websites, where I graspingly read about the vast array of beers they brew... but completely, utterly unavailable to me. Importing a case or driving to Buffalo is unfortunately outside of my means, being a student. So I ask, I plead, is there any bar or other establishment which offers a selection from these companies?

Thanks.

Welcome DukeOfYork.

Hacker Pschorr is now sold at the Beer Store in 20 packs and at the Liquor Store in singles, while the Schneider Weisse is only available at the Liquor Store. I find these two everywhere.

As for German wheat beer in bars, check out the Woodhouse Underground Restaurant at 2241-A Bloor Street West (Runnymede subway station). They have four or five German beers on tap and others in bottles.

There's also a German schnitzel restaurant (don't remember the name) around Lawrence and Don Mills Road area that serves German wheat beer on tap.

Check out the Yellow Pages for other German-style restaurants and call them to inquire abour their beer selections...

One of Bavaria's finest dunkel weizens is Ayinger Ur-Weisse and there's still some kicking around the LCBO from this summer's release....product number is 431643 and the Infoline at 416-365-5900 can tell you where to find it.
