Black Oak Ten Bitter Years. Was a big favourite of mine back in the day (way back). Is it even made any more?

I've seen Twenty Bitter Years, a hazy IPA (yuck, lol). Ten Bitter Years was indeed great.midlife crisis wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 8:40 am Black Oak Ten Bitter Years. Was a big favourite of mine back in the day (way back). Is it even made any more?
Since newer West Coast IPAs are so few and far between I have been going back to the classics. Boneshaker in particular really hits the mark for me, as I love the heavier malt body combined with the hop bite.Tapsucker wrote: It amuses me that this kind of stuff (I'm looking at you Mad Tom) was once such treasure to us, but now we overlook it in search of new producers. I mean, I'm glad more people are making great beer for us to choose from, and they need a chance and some evangelizing from us, but what's now the 'old guard' is still doing great work. I guess all I can say that it's just up to us to drink more.
I used to sell beer. Now I don't.
Not sure I'd call it a traditional WC IPA so much as just not hazy but I did quite like it back in April. I feel like this style has a lot of potential - less malt forward than a traditional WC IPA, less caramel and resin, but also less of the green hop veg crud that ruins a lot the hazys for me.

I’ve also recently revisited Ransack after years away. I love it again like I used to. They had 4-packs at superstore for $14 until I cleaned them out eventually

Boneshaker is $80 for a 24 at TBS, $3.33 a can, not bad for a great 7%er!Since newer West Coast IPAs are so few and far between I have been going back to the classics. Boneshaker in particular really hits the mark for me, as I love the heavier malt body combined with the hop bite.

Currently sipping on a 3moon Left Hand Path(mosiac). It’s very very good. Admittedly, I’m a bit of a mosiac whore, but this is a delicious beer. Nice white grapefruit pith and pomelo flavours up front, some mulberry kicking around in there and a solid bitter finish. This is the second of the Left Hand Path series I’ve had(not sure how many they’ve done) and it’s 10 times better than the first one I had.
I had an octopus likes to fight for the first time in a while tonight and it was great.

Surf Rock from Town Brewery is excellent!

I had the San Diego Super Sauce from Rouge River and it was quite good. It's at the Lickbo now: https://www.lcbo.com/en/rouge-river-san ... -ipa-38795

Went to buy my annual Boneshaker for Halloween (gotta use that skull mug I have!) and was shocked to see it went up to $4.25/can. Oh wait... it's in a 568ml can!
Works out to a cheaper price per ounce, but I don't know if I was really looking for more ounces, lol

I got some of GLB's limited 2010 West Coast IPA and it's a nice nostalgia trip. I'm looking forward to Lake Effect season. It's been great the past few years.
