Yes, unfortunately the very best stuff is not that easy to find unless you search beforehand. There's kind of a second level of quality that's relatively widely available. I'd say the craft that we're seeing here would be part of that second level. Perhaps that's too generous and it's another level down.
As for convenience store pricing here, looking on GLB's Instagram, Octopus, Steam Whistle, Lug Tread, and Ransack the Universe are all $4.29 for 16 ounces. At the LCBO the prices are $3.65, $3.85, $3.85, and $3.85, respectively. That's mostly an 11.4% premium (26% premium if taxes are excluded).

Beer in Convenience Stores coming early
Truer words were never spoken!Craig wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 12:56 pm Sounds a lot like how it is here then, though I wonder if the deps get to order directly from breweries if they like?
Access truly has come a long way in the last 10 years, it's so much better than it was. One thing I would love to see is a relaxing of provincial barriers in particular. There's no good reason why I shouldn't be allowed to have a brewery in Quebec or BC ship to my door, imo.
