Gingerman, Oakville

I'm writing this only as I'll find sympathetic folks here.

There's a pub in Oakville on the Kerr St., so not in a strip mall. It burned down a bit before COVID (nobody hurt) and closed permanently. It was always a decent pub, nothing too fancy but not too corporate either.

After a long construction, they re-opened in an old dollar store location on Kerr, a large space with a big bar and lots of tables & TVs and a big patio. Nice new space, a step up in scale from the old place but still comfortable.

But I just shake my head when it comes to beer. I totally get that beer deals are a thing, but the tap list is all Molson family - Canadian, Coors, Heineken, Stiegl, Madri, Rickard's Red, Creemore Lager, Hop Valley, TDD Apocalypso plus Delirium. Only thing remotely local craft is a trifecta from Beau's/Steam of Steam, Lug Tread and Juiced.

It's just such a missed opportunity for a new pub to make a statement with something good, which in Oakville would stand out from everything else in town. Such a shame and really no reason why I would make this a regular bar, which I totally would have with even a minimal amount of care towards their beer selection.

And to top it off, on what I think is their first day open, they served the Beau's Juiced in a Molson Canadian glass.

I know not to expect much in the suburbs and that just continued today!

I mean, it's not THAT long ago that a suburban bar with Trou du Diable and Beau's on tap would have been a good thing! :)

Come to think of it, why the heck did TDD being sold to Molson not result in Ontario distribution?

Yeah, it's kind of weird nothing really happened with TDD. TBS lists it, but says no stores carry the cans:

In Ontario it simply seems to be a brand to round out the Six Pints portfolio to offer a craft-y beer to bars like this one. It's also on tap at another Molson bar in town.

It's not bad but I find it's generally pretty pricy.
