Yeah, it's a funny line which I've seen a number of times before on restaurant listings on Realtor.midlife crisis wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 11:03 am "Please do not go direct. Please do not speak to staff. Your discretion is appreciated". Yet they have listed the property on a public website, lol.

Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Bar Hop 2 (Peter St)
Both Peter Street and the original location are my go-tos when I'm in that part of the city, which granted isn't a lot these days. Dropped by King on a Saturday afternoon back in the winter and it was very quiet. Been about a year since I was at Peter Street, but the rooftop was very busy on a weekday afternoon. Would be a shame to see it go, hopefully someone buys the space and does it justice.
On a recent trip I popped into the original barhop and it was absolutely deserted at like 5 pm. The beer list and food were still good though!

This seems pretty reasonable. ![:D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Bar Hop 2 has been a bit off for a while now. I haven't seen the ground floor open for what seems like years, or at least every time I pass by. I've been a couple of times when the roof patio is open and that's all that is open, so no inside space at all.
King St was doing quite well from what I could tell the few times I passed by recently during TIFF, but didn't make it in.

I hope the location doesn't peter out (sorry). It's off my beaten track more and more, but I do go out of my way to visit. Especially the patio. I think the challenge for the inside spaces has always been the noise level, but it's hard to ascertain whether that's why attendance is down.

Come to think of it, when I was at Peter St it seemed like only the patio was open. That would explain why it felt busy, everyone was up there, but it can't be sustainable to only operate 1 of 3 levels.Cass wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 3:38 pm Bar Hop 2 has been a bit off for a while now. I've only been in there once and sat right at the bar just inside the door. Thought the place seemed small, I guess there's more space upwards eh? lol
Bar Hop 2 closing on Saturday:
Friends… It is with mixed emotions that we have made the difficult decision to permanently close the 137 Peter Street Bar Hop location, with our last day on Saturday January 18th .
Since the onset of the pandemic, which changed many of our lives and behaviours, we have been hopeful to see things return to the good ole’ days. The last 4 years have been difficult with a slow recovery in the downtown area, increased costs and the feeling by most people that there is a lot less to go around. We were optimistic that we could keep providing Bar Hop’s brand of good times from multiple locations, however we realized that sometimes good things must come to an end.
The original Bar Hop location at 391 King St W will continue to be open and we look forward to keep serving up all the great things you know & love.
We want to thank all of our customers, staff and business partners that have supported this location over the past 10 years. We have created many memories together and we are grateful for each one of them. We will miss this special place.
Although this is 137 Peter Street’s last week, we invite you to come join us this week and provide it a proper send off.
We will be open this week from Wednesday January 15th until our last night on Saturday January 18th. From 4pm-Late. On top of our regular specials, we will be having some Customer Appreciation drink & food specials on all four of the remaining nights. Please stay tuned to social media for more information.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you one last time at 137 Peter St… See you soon! Cheers
It was inevitable, but it's a shame! Great spot.Cass wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 2:34 pm Bar Hop 2 closing on Saturday:

It makes you wonder if the large-scale beer bar model will ever work in Toronto. CRAFT is pretty much the only place left, isn't it? I know there are other places like WVRST, beertown, and great bars that seat less people, but I mean places with truly huge tap lists.

King Taps?
How many taps do they have? I thought they were in that 35ish range, which is respectable but not huge.

It's not a place I frequent or anything, but 40, based on a count from their website. How many does Craft have / what's your threshold?
Craft has 145 according to their website, plus 15 taps that aren't beer.
I don't have a particular threshold in mind, but from my limited travels in the US it seems common in cities there for there to be at least one or two places like that with like 100 taps. Seems less popular here, for whatever reason.
