Have to admit I've pretty much given up on Nickel Brook. Too bad as I enjoyed them back in the day. Something seems off now, though.
Tough for breweries to remain where they were as they get older/larger. Lots of good alternatives, though.
I had their root beer a while back and it had all the spices, except the one that matters-sarsaparilla.

Had a Headstock recently, was pretty good.
Also had a WCIPA with a goose on the label around Xmas that I liked.

I’m kind of the same opinion….i tend to just gloss over them if I’m in the LCBO grabbing stuff. Unlike most, I was never a big headstock guy to begin with. All this being said, someone at a party around Xmas time gave me the one with the goose on it(uncle goose, maybe) and it was solid, as well as the Winter Wizard? It was also decent.
I am still a big fan of NickelBrook IPAs.
As far as WCIPAs go, Headstock is still great.
Winter Wizard was excellent. Uncle Goose pretty good too.
They have a very nice taproom in Burlington ( Mainway, west of Walkers )

Turns out it isn't re-branding, but a replacement.S. St. Jeb wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 8:46 pm Nickel Brook has re-branded their No Bad Daze Easy Going Lager to simply Easy Going Lager.
Hmmmm. Can't think of why.
"Please note that this new brew will be replacing our "No Bad Daze - Easy-Goin' Lager". You can still purchase No Bad Daze at select grocery locations until May 2024."
So the beer is changing not just the name?S. St. Jeb wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 10:58 amTurns out it isn't re-branding, but a replacement.S. St. Jeb wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 8:46 pm Nickel Brook has re-branded their No Bad Daze Easy Going Lager to simply Easy Going Lager.

I used to drink more Nickel Brook as well. I'd mostly go to stock up on their root beer, and then grab a mix of some other stuff that was available at the time.
The Kentucky Bastard would always draw me in too.
I don't really get excited by their newer offerings, and their overall branding now.
Oh well!

Visited the Etobicoke location on the weekend after seeing that Kentucky Bastard is back after going on hiatus last year.
So this version has been aged ~2 years.
It was already sold out when I got thee, but they admitted they had very few bottles compared to Burlington, and had asked for more to be sent their way.
It will also be at LCBO any day now, in a special pack wit ha glass: https://www.lcbo.com/en/nickel-brook-br ... pack-41242

IMO it’s been pretty damn average-bad(for the price) the past couple years, 2022 especially. I found it so so thin and nearly as much barrel presence as there used to be. There was a definite decline…I can’t remeber when it started, but it’s now at the point that I won’t even buy it. A real shame, as some of those mid 2010’s versions were pretty damn spectacular.

Agree sofaking,
The last couple times I had it, it was not up to par.
They didn't brew it last year, and this has been aged longer than in the past, so curious to see if it is back to the glory days.
