Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Nothing surprises me anymore, and neither does this.

This post in the announcement thread struck a chord, but ABI doesn't own Bar Towel so we're still going!

Funny to see that Josh Oakes, who used to post here and lived locally, still posts to Ratebeer. 32,000 ratings. Imagine all that and you end up with a .csv file.

I didn’t pay close attention to how things played out since ABI acquired it, but didn’t craft beer purists sort of ‘cancel’ RB after that? And could that be part of what lead to this move?
That's the way she goes. Sometimes she goes, sometimes it doesn't. She didn't go. That's the way she goes.

The few times I visited over the years since the acquisition it seemed like nothing really changed or evolved, but I could be wrong. It always seemed like RB was more "International" and BA was more "American" so perhaps some folks migrated to BA as a result of the acquisition, particularly users in N.A. Perhaps ABI thought they could compete with Untappd and that didn't pan out so they're cutting it.

Big companies don't bother with small operations unless they grow by 1000% That leaves room for small profitable niche operations, the BC guys want to get ahold of it, led by McBerko

You're right, but RB was acquired by "ZX Ventures", whose stated mission is below. I'm not naive to know that it's corporate bullshit and if you don't deliver the $$ you get closed. But this mission statement is pretty dated when you think about today's corporate world.
ZX Ventures is the global investment and innovation group of AB InBev, the world's leading brewer. We partner with and build ventures that allow us to meet the needs of tomorrow – and turn entrepreneurs’ dreams into reality. We are here to invest ahead of the curve: seeding, launching, and scaling new products that deliver exceptional consumer experiences and bring (more) people together. We partner with devoted founders and best-in-class business builders and operators to help them grow their businesses. We invest from seed to series C in key industries and investment areas including beverage, direct to consumer, circular ventures, future of socializing and agile industry.

Bumping this for visibility. If you are a Ratebeer user you have a limited amount of time to export your ratings from the site. FYI.
