I did a search to see if anyone had talked about Furnace Room and found this post from @GtownRandy in the brewery closing/restructuring thread, so I thought I'd split it out.GtownRandy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 10:13 am Rumours have it that the Furnace Room Brewery in Georgetown has been sold to the Keenan’s Irish Pub chain. They have never had in-house food service at the brewery so I would think that this will lead to Keenan’s serving food there, and brewing beer to be served in the pubs.
In recent months Furnace Room has not released any new beers since their Oktoberfest lager and don’t currently have any brewing staff. They’ve been through 7 or 8 brewers in their 5 year existence so hopefully they can land someone to turn things around.
Some family things have taken me to Georgetown from time to time with an hour or two to kill each visit, and I've been visiting Furnace Room. Although the beer isn't going to set the world on fire, I quite like the space (they have a lower level bar and an upstairs room that's quite cozy with board games, books and such) and the staff is friendly. There's usually a half dozen or so beers on tap and they have some kind of food service now.
It seems like it's doing ok from the visits I've been and seems to attract a broad mix of people. Hopefully it continues on as it's always nice to have little breweries in town. I sure wish we had anything that remotely resembled Furnace Room in Oakville!
