Myself and one of my business partners are heading to Montreal on Monday. We will be visiting with Peter at McAuslan and hopefully seeing GMT and Brasseur du Nord as well. Any special requests for products not available here? My treat for anyone willing to come up to our little brewery and pick up the goodies. There is a limit on room in the adventure van so first come first serve.
My apologies to anyone else I may have ticked off with my red neck review of Petrus. Really all beer is great...and not just for breakfast anymore. I also shouldn't rant about the LCBO in public. To their credit they sell a lot of our beer, treat us well and are increasingly interested in helping to develop local brewing success. The more beer we can have brewed here, will help build an industry constantly improving on quality, consistency and variety. I think this is a good thing.
Anybody know what the best (and biggest) brewpub in Montreal is?
Howard

Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Hi Howard,
Thanks for the offer - but I'll be heading to PQ myself in a couple of weeks. But I'll come up for a visit to Creemore anyway
As for Montreal brewpubs, my personal favourite is Dieu du Ciel. You can find a map and a review of the brewpubs in Mtl. here:
http://www.bartowel.com/reports/montreal.phtml
Also, please don't censor yourself here. I want to ensure this forum can be a place where people can speak their minds, regardless of the industry folks who participate here.

Hi Howard:
Thanks for the offer. I wouldn't mind a bottle of La Terrible & 11. I wouldn't expect you to pay for them though.
I'd like to arrange a trip up to see you. If there is anyone else interested in working something out let me know. I can fit 2 extra people. We could stop at King as well. I'm thinking of either later this month or early March.
Cheers, Joe.

Joe,
I am not going to Unibroue this time, but I'll be grabbing some of their beers (is 11 one of theirs too?...I can't keep up).
Cass had a good list of other lesser known brands. I'll pick up some of those too. I like to get them for our brewers so a few extra bottles is fine (some I'll trade for anyway).
If you are coming up, there is also a new little brewery in Hockley Valley. I am embarrassed that I haven't been there yet. I am hoping to visit both this week.

Howard, I disagree with you about not ranting
about the LCBO. According to various micro industry sources, the new head of the LCBO is intent on Core Branding. These words scare me, I believe that within a year the speciatly beer releases will be history and while Creemore may still be listed I think smaller micro's will not. Maybe Bartoweller's
should write their MPP's but I think the major pressure should be from the importers like Esprit. I've asked a micro industry source how much Molson, Labatt's and Sleeman make from thier beer when it is sold in the Beer Store, it is 25 cents a six pack. While this charge is trivial I'd rather not give one red cent to breweries that have historicly closed small brewers

Hello Howard,
I would recommand 2 markets where you can get pretty much what is on the QC market.
Supermarché Métro Johannette, 349 de L'église
in Verdun
Dépanneur Le Gobelet
(450)455-1667
78, rue Valois, Vaudreuil-Dorion, on your way from the 401 via the 20.
There is 2 brewpubs which were not on Cass's list:
Le Réservoir, on Duluth, corner of St-Laurent (east of STL) and Les 3 Brasseurs, on St-Denis, 2 blocks north of Ste-Catherine.
Bon voyage
