Those of you expecting delivery of the Belgian Cantillon lambics before Xmas will be somewhat disappointed to be advised that we have encountered delays in Belgium as a result of the LCBO not having enough product to fill a container for shipment so we are still awaiting word on departure. We anticipate mid-January arrival at this time.
On the positive front, we have secured a very limited allocation of some of Cantillon's rare specialties which we are now able to offer. These unique lambics and spontaneously fermented brews are much sought after and regularly retail in the States for US$20.00 and more per 750ml bottle. As you'll see below, our estimated retails will all be under $11.00 per bottle so these represent a fantastic bargain when compared to U.S. pricing. As our allocation is limited, those who have previously ordered the regular Cantillon will have first crack but we also welcome orders from anyone who did not subscribe to that offerring. The beers are packed in cases of 6 X 750ml and must be ordered in case lots. We anticipate delivery in mid-February as 2 of the beers are bottled and the other 2 will be bottled in early January.
The beers are as follows:
ST. LAMVINUS - Many think that this is one of the most innovative beers in the world. It is made with imported Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes trucked in from St. Emilion and Pomerol in Bordeaux. The grapes are soaked in Bordeaux barrels containing 2 to 3 year old lambic and the resulting brew is not blended before bottling.
VIGNERONNE - A fruit lambic made with imported Italian white muscat grapes.
GRAND CRU BRUOSCELLA - This unflavoured lambic is aged for a full 3 years in oak barrels and represents one of the finest examples of the lambic artform. Suitable for aging, this brew is more akin to fine wine than beer.
IRIS - Although spontaneiously fermented like all lambics, this brew is not a lambic as it is not made with the traditional 35% wheat but is rather made with 100% pale ale barley malts. What also differentiates from other lambics is that instead of using 100% dry hops, this brew uses 50% fresh hops. After 2 years in barrels it undergoes a second fresh hopping 2 weeks before bottling.
We have to ask everyone to act quickly on this one and get your orders to us by no later than January 2, 2004.

I hate to say it, but is anyone interested in a split of 2 cases? One of St. Lamvinus and one of Grand Cru Bruoscella? I've got a lot of orders pending already on other products, and I don't want to push my luck in the homestead by ordering too much.
Ideally, it would be someone that'd like to meet up at the Winking Judge to do the swap, or anywhere closer to St. Catharines.
Just to be clear, I want this to be a 2 person deal with each of us taking 3 bottles of each.

You'll be having deep regrets if you only get 6 bottles. If you have not had these big traditional gueuze, the first bottle is usually a real chore and the second is quite wonderful. After that it is elexir. If you really want to split on half cases go ahead and order and I will purchase the extra 6 bottles off of you. I think we know each other from the judge.
