2 wonderful pints of an award winning, cask conditioned Porter at Sugar Bowl, Edmonton. It is a recipe from the homebrewing of Ray Duperon and Patrick Doyle who were this year's Aurora Brewing Challenge Brewer of the Year winners.

But you know what, it was very very similar to a Biergotter Porter/stout recipe. Very more-ish!

Tonight I'm sipping a Kuhnhenn Grand Cru.

Last night I went through some various bottles:
New Holland Charkoota Rye
a six month old Christoffel Bier
a year old Aprodisiaque
and Golden Carolus ambrio.

A good week so far.

We had a German themed potluck paired with:

Schneider Weisse
Schneider Edel-weisse
Schneider Hopfen Weisse
Schneider Aventinus
Schneider Aventinus Weizen Eisbock

The Edel-weisse is my favourite!

It was quite nice Robbo, nice progression to the to the end. Have to say the Hopfen Weisse is my fav though, despite the Edel-Weisse's sheer drinkability.

How did the Aphrodisiaque taste? I love it fresh and plan on buying plenty...

My older brothers recently returned from a baseball watchin' trip to the States, and they brought me back a few goodies.

Tonight I tried Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin'. Tons of citrusy hops. Didn't realize this was supposed to be a 'pale wheat ale'... seemed more like a not-insanely-hoppy-relatively-strong-IPA. Whatever, it was delicious.

... Turns out RB has it listed as an IPA, whereas it's a pale wheat ale on BA.

To be honest I would put this beer in the drink fresh only pile.
It holds up beautifully because it's a well made beer. It was interesting to see a little boozy fruitiness become apparent. With it's alcohol content and general strong vanilla and bitter cocoa flavour, mellowing it out doesn't seem like a desired thing to do to this.

Peche Mortel... now that's a bit of a different story.

BA has it wrong, the original requester entered it wrong and it's never been changed.

Last night it was...

London Pride with Pizza.
One of my last Belgian stouts.

Finished off some Ardbeg... one of my favourites. A nice smokyness without too much peaty, medicinal flavour. Awesome stuff.

Uhh Dude, I believe the preferred nomenclature is Schnitzel Face.
Sorry to correct the correction but as the boys at BrewDog say, the correct term is "sausage muncher"

"Sausage Muncher" has a whole different connotation in the UK  And it doesn't refer to them being German either.
