Wow.. brewed my Janet's Brown, and pitched onto a yeast cake from a basic pale ale. Thing was fermenting off within 4 hours, and I had to throw a blow-off tube on.
I know this isn't the ideal practice, but I thought I'd try it once, and the opportunity presented itself.
Next brew is a Cascadian Dark Ale.
Type: All Grain
Batch Size: 5.50 gal
Boil Size: 6.92 gal
Boil Time: 60 min
Ingredients
Grains
15.50 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 88.57 %

1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) Grain 5.71 %

Looks tasty. I'm about to order a pound of Citra hops, can't wait to try them. The Sorachi ace sound interesting, but I'd like to try them before ordering a whole pound.Bonesey wrote:Brewed up a Sorachi Ace/Citra IPA called sensei says, "Citra ass down!"

Sorachi is very lemony and herbal. Put a bit at FO and dry hop in an IIPA with other US hops and it really stood out, especially on the tongue. Citra is a funny hop, runs the gamut from Lychee to catty.elproducto wrote:Looks tasty. I'm about to order a pound of Citra hops, can't wait to try them. Got the Sorachi from Bob at beer and wine filter. I'd recommend it, as it's pretty versatile; IPAs/IIPAs, saisons, US wheats. I've heard people complain that it's like lemon pledge if overused. I don't think I'd ever do a single hop IPA with it, but I think it works well with C hops in an IPA.

One of the Hamilton area homebrewers found a pound of unlabelled mystery hop pellets in his freezer, so we split it amongst a few guys and are doing a SMASH brew (single malt and single hops) with our choice of yeast. I brewed early yesterday morning (5am) and mine is 10lb of Maris Otter fermenting with WL007 (just started bubbling this morning).
