That doesn't mean anything. Practically every time I visit an LCBO, I see price cards & shelf talkers in the wrong places. It's quite possible that they simply stuck the sign in question up next to a bunch of random higher alcohol beers, without making it clear which ones actually had a retail price increase vs. those that didn't.

Admittedly, I don't remember which beers had a pricing increase. I think any beer over 5.6% had a little notice hanging with it.

I find this interesting (20 May 04):

"Sales of domestic craft beer and non-U.S. imported beer rose by 18.6 and 14.7 per cent respectively, further evidence of the trend to premium products."

Guys, two things happened...strong beers were targetted and a mark-up rate based upon alcohol content was implemented...second, all products inluding wine, beers and spirits had a price increase and many suppliers chose not to absorb them this time so a lot of things went up. For example, Duvel was not affected by the high alcohol issue but still went up 5 cents from $2.95 to $3.00 as did Mort Subite and many other beers. Hope that settles the matter for you all!
