Black Oak Nutcracker from 2006. Man, is this still amazingly tasty!!!! Still got great mocha & spice on the nose, and lovely cocoa powder, coffee & spice flavour with a nice warming, dry bitter finish.

My son's hockey team had a pool party today (yah, I know it's only August - if you have kids in rep sports, you understand; if not, I can't explain it here).

Anyway, looking around at the beer bottles showed even less variation than I might have expected - Bud, Bud Light, Bud Light Lime, Coors Light, Blue Lime....I saw a Heineken bottle left on the table a single can of Canadian. Can't recall anything else. Edit: someone was drinking Canadian 67

I brought Black Oak Pale Ale and Smashbomb. The Smashbomb triggered some questions.

Had a bottle of Double Dead Guy that I managed to get recently, then pulled out a bottle of Sam Adams Imperial Double Bock because I was sure that DDG tasted similar, and sure enough it did. Both were quite good.

Interesting questions or the usual "eww how can you drink that crap?" that one gets from the BMC/MolBatts crowd?

Arg. I keep saying that, it's a Zeppelin song title.

But Mad Tom is a wonderful go-to pint.

Indeed, MT is wonderful on tap. I need to try the cask version, which, according to all who've tried it, is bloody fantastic.

"What's that" and "Where's it from" type of questions; they had no idea what it was. Someone asked if I got from the Beer Store or the LCBO.

Man, fans of craft brews are voracious!

I went the LCBO around here that looked like it had a good selection when I checked Drinkvine(on Friday), Kirkwood and Richmand, and everything I was looking for was gone! It was on the site on Friday!

Central City Red Racer,
Beau's Festivale
Smashbomb(All flying monkeys, really)
Mad Tom
all gone

Did get some 10w30, Double Dead Guy and a raspberry Lambic

Teaches me for waiting till Sunday, I guess.

F&M/Wellington collaberation Guelph Special Bitter and Stone Hammer Pilsner at the brewery feature at Wychwood Barns. Guelph Special Bitter was really good, disappointed it's not going to be an ongoing thing from them.

First visit ever to Langdon Hall, in Cambridge for celebration brunch. "5 star" prices, but expectations may have been too high...
Highlight was availability of Spearhead's Hawaiian Pale Ale and a Grand River 1898 I hadn't seen before, apparantly blended especially for them (Mill Race & Galt Knife).
Now enjoying a Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous - the day is ending well!
