Just got a response from helloLCBO about the 12% ABV limit.

Response By Email (Matthew @ helloLCBO) (11/18/2015 01:43 PM)
Hello Eric,

Thank you for contacting helloLCBO about Alcohol Content in Beers.

The allowable alcohol by volume is set out in Canada's Food & Drug Regulations. In regards to beer, there is no ABV limit, however there are ranges that certain types of beers are required to fall into. You may view this information here:

If we have not fully addressed your question, please reply to this email leaving the subject line intact, or please reach out to us directly at 416-365-5900 or toll free at 1-800-668-5226.

Best Regards,

Matthew @ helloLCBO

Recently we have noticed that many special brewery releases that used to be above 12% ABV (up to 14% ABV) have been changed to 11.9%.

Is there an ABV limit on beer in Ontario? Is this only starting to be enforced now?

guessing the regular isn't happening... that really sucks. missed the double, figured I could at least stock up on the regular tempest.

I'm looking forward to trying that. I'll have to swing by the brewery.

Anyone have any insight into this year's Double Tempest?

Is it still available? Price? How does it compare to last year's batch?

UPDATE: It is still available at Esandar Dr., $16.95 per bottle. It was unavailable for sample :( but the clerk said this batch is especially chocolatey.

And they have cans of regular Tempest available in the fridge,

Wow, we have come along way. I totally forgot this existed with the cornucopia of choice we seem to have. I'll have to go pick some up. For old times sake.

Is the bitter the same recipe as last time? If so, I had the first batch and quite enjoyed it. I don’t have my notes handy at this time though, sorry.

Very curious to hear what any of you think of the four new lagers from Amsterdam. I am planning to grab some to try for myself later this week regardless, but would love to read some reviews. Cheers.

Thank you. It’s not Starke pilsner and Tempest, but I’ll pick up one for sure.

Amsterdam acquired by Royal Unibrew (Faxe) for $44 million:

https://www.cp24.com/news/royal-unibrew ... -1.5989217
TORONTO -- Royal Unibrew says it's buying Toronto-based Amsterdam Brewery Co. Ltd. for about $44 million.
Denmark-based Royal Unibrew says the acquisition will help its expansion in the Americas by having Amsterdam Brewery supply most of the Canadian market as well as supplementing its supplies to the United States.
The beverage conglomerate, which produces drinks under its own Royal name along with owning several brands including Faxe beer, says the localized supplier will reduce demand on its Danish facilities.
It says a localized supplier will also reduce supply chain constraints that have increased significantly in the last 18 months, along with cutting transportation costs and the company's CO2 footprint.
Founded in 1986, Amsterdam Brewery has a brew pub on Toronto's waterfront as well as a roughly 6,000-square-metre (65,000 square foot) brewery in the city's Leaside neighbourhood.
Royal Unibrew says Amsterdam has about $34 million a year in sales, and earnings of around $5 million before certain deductions.
