Anyone heard news about Northern Maverick?
The one time (in a long time) I thought about going last month, they were randomly closed.
Their website doesn't work now (malware I think...don't check it, lol), and their Instagram is pretty quiet.

My favourite beer from them was when they were still a contract brewer and had the donald trump beer, lol.

An ad for a Northern Maverick Family Day brunch just came up in my Instagram feed.

Never made it to the Aviary.
I remember being at The Dock Ellis some time ago and all beers were from Longslice.
Apparently the same owners, from what the bartender told me. I guess they will be pouring other beers now.

I just had brunch there, so they are still open. However, there were no other customers while I was there. Maybe it's because of the extreme cold. On the other hand the last time I was there was for lunch and there were few other patrons too. Maybe they get busy at night. I don't know.

I think that their brewer trained at Muskoka, and I would rank this brewey just below Muskoka. Not the best in the province, but not bad. I do admit Maverick is hit or miss with their beers, but they do have some good ones.

Via Reddit, Avling's property for sale. Not sure if the Avling brand comes with it.

Evergreen from Ottawa is merging? bought? by Stratford Fox distillery (never heard of them) to become Pistols Brewery.

Something just seems unwise about branding a brewery with a name containing pis.
Brands are for cattle.
Fans are cash cows.
The herd will consume until consumed.

I think I've become very jaded/cynical, but a lineup featuring an amber, pilsner, stout and IPA doesn't really scream bold new era to me. Granted I'm happy to see breweries returning to classic, simpler styles, however this screams coprorate buzzwords/marketing speak over substance.

That new branding is certainly a thing...

It is quite over the top, isn't it.

They will definitely have to do a collab beer with Outlaw Brew Co.

This is more of a location than brewery closure, but I saw on Steve Abrams's Facebook feed that Mill Street's Bermondsey spot apparently has closed.
