Passage Brewery

Post by anthony9 »

New brewery up in Collingwood.

Focus is on lagers and saisons. So far it looks like they have a low-alcohol saison, a lager, and a stronger saison. Small size and time-consuming methods mean prices reflective of those.

Available at the Volo convenience store.

Side notes: Really like the cutesy label designs and bottle format of half litre.

Memberships will start in 2025. They will have mixed fermentation and spontaneous stuff.

Still Fields 2.0?

Thanks for sharing.

No tasting room, no pickup & no address...I guess must be contract brewing at one of the Collingwood breweries?

Very much looks like Stillfields 2.0, and literally 30 minutes away from where version 1 didn't work.

I love seeing breweries focus on under appreciated styles, but seriously, who is paying $9 for 500ml of beer from an unknown brewery? Has it not been proved over and over that you have to have some sort of bulk seller to stay alive?

It does seem like a bulk beer is important, especially where there is not a high density of people. Short Finger in Kitchener does it.

I’m not too worried about quality because the brewer’s been in the game for a while (confirmed Still Fields brewer).

I don’t know the first thing about operations, but I like what Small Pony has done to cut costs/cut prices by moving from bottles to cans. I suppose that bottles are easier to star with as a small operation. Pony has some stuff in the LCBO, but I don’t think they have as much abroad as some Ontario breweries.

Being in Collingwood may be able to access the winter ski market, but just speculation.
