Hey all!
Sorry I missed the get together the other night. I'm in Los Angeles right now...just started to sample the micro scene here with a few different bottles last night. I'm just wondering if anyone knows where there's a good pub/bar with a large selection of micro taps?

Well I'm back. Thanks for the FLOOD of responses to this post. Either nobody has yet done the L.A. beer scene or nobody gave a @$%&.
Anyway...here's a brief update for you. The one spectacularly notable place was actually a 45 minute drive outside of L.A. It's called the "Yard House" and it's well worth the trip. It's in Long Beach down in the harbour right across the bay from the Queen Mary's dock. It has a tap selection of 250 beers at any given time...yes you read correctly, 250. I'd say at least 150 of those are genuine micros with the rest being predictable North American and European offerings (like Molson Golden!?!). Beer is served in pints (no half pints!), half yards (32oz) or full yards (64oz)...of course a yard glass being the traditional English pub glass that's long and narrow with a "ball" at the bottom. They also offer a sampler of 6-2oz glasses. Unfortunately you can't pick which beers to sample, that's selected each day by the staff. Still the menu is impressive and a little daunting. Pints are priced from $3.50 U.S. - $5 U.S. which is pretty fair even if it is the standard 16oz U.S. pint. The food is also really good...generally fancy pub fare with a good selection of fresh seafood as well. Here's a link to their current tap list, http://www.yardhouse.com/beer.shtml
If you're down there on a trip I highly recommend it...just make sure you have a designated driver or local accomodations!
In L.A. proper the best place I found for tap selection was Barney's Beanery which is in West Hollywood. They have 25 taps, only about 8 are micros (including the great Stone IPA), but after the Yard House this seemed a little dissappointing.
Cheers,
Jon

My apologies also. I've been to LA serval times but well before I was into this beer thing. I should have mentioned this great little taco stand in Studio City near Universal Studios. Next time anyone goes let me know. I'll give you directions.
My understanding, though, is that the beer scene in LA is pretty dismall. Sounds like you found the two good stops.
Cheers, Joe
