New on the London beer bar scene- Chancey Smith's

Post by SteelbackGuy »

This is funny as I was just saying yesterday, how London needs more beer bars.........

Chancey Smith's has been around for a while. An often featured place to grab some steak and seafood in the heart of downtown. Known for their great wine selection, excellent food, and proximity to the JLC. Throw in the fact that they have a large patio, and are located in the Covent Garden Market (london's farmers market). What could make it a better place to stop? My answer to you is good beer.

Milos Kral, former general manager of Chaucer's Pub, has only been with Chancey's for a bit now, and already is making his mark. I heard about this today, and went down ASAP to see what Milos was up to. The answer: London's newest premier beer bar.

After catching up with Milos ( I literally heard about this at about 10 AM this morning, went there at about 2PM) , I asked him what he planned to do with the beer list. Well he already had the answer prepared. He presented me with a beer menu featuring over 80 bottles. The list featured Lindemans Cuvee Rene, Scaldis Prestige, Rohchefort 10, 8, Southern Tier Cherry Saison, Chimay Blue, Saison Dupont, St Bernardus 12, Unibroue Chambly Noire, Unibroue Don de Dieu, and some tough to get OCB stuff such as bottled Nickel Brook Uniek Kriek, Scottish Ale, and others. And this was just the beginning.

The tap lineup right now is pretty standard, but he is adding 4 lines in January, and plans on having some dedicated to OCB stuff.

With Milos at the helm, you know you are in good hands. A great guy, and an even greater host. He has been greatly missed since he left Chaucer's, and many Londoner's have been awaiting his return.

Please show your support by stopping by Chancey's and grabbing a beer or two.

Great to hear that Milos is back on the scene! I've never met him, but everyone I know who has says that he's a great guy, and he obviously knows his beer.

Over the years that Milos was running Mirienbad, he did a great job of creating a beer program there, and bringing in some great imports ahead of the curve. It'll be great to see what happens with Chancey's.
With the increased attention to food and beer tastings, I am sure there will be some great choices to match with steak!

We stopped by to see Milos when we heard the news. Great bottle selection when we were in and he told us that he hopes to add more draft lines soon. Good to see him back on the scene.

We are in the process of selecting beers for our new four draft lines. It looks like one will be Pilsner Urquell, perhaps one for Premier Brands(Hacker Pschorr - Fullers - Koningshoeven) and two from OCB. Hopefully Grand River and Better Bitters.
So many beers and so little time!!
