Any suggestions for good places to eat/drink around this Northern Detroit burb? Spending a few days down there the week after Thanksgiving, I'll be checking ratebeer for good bottle shops, but I've got couple days to kill while the wife has some training course, so I will likely venture over to Bells, but beyond that, not much planned yet.

Everywhere i know in Northern Detroit is closer to the I-675 Corridor than to Troy.

I've been to the Copper Canyon Brewpub and Dragonmead. Kuhnhenn Brothers is also up there.

Dragonmead and Copper Canyon both sell growlers, Dragonmead is the better of the two in terms of selection and quality IMO.

Also try the Detroit Beermaping page, it shows a number of places i've never been in the Troy area.

I was in Troy a while ago, there is really nothing to do there once the stores close. On the bright side, the Kuhnhenn Brewery should be a 15 min drive from Somerset.

I second the recommendation for Dragonmead...you'll need a few trips to try all the beers, but Kuhnhenn is also worth the trip.

It's been a few years since I've been to both, but the Great Baraboo and Rochester Mills brewpubs served up some tasty brews in the north end of Detroit.

When crossing into Michigan, stop at the Welcome Centre and pick up the booklet on Michigan breweries and brewpubs.

Going to Black Lotus Brewpub for Lunch , then over to Champanes Wine Cellar and then onto Kuhnhenn just down the road.

The Black Lotus has good beers, and a great deal is the Burger and Pint for $6. Unfortunately both the wife and I received undercooked (red centre) burgers, but after sending them back, we got them done just right, juicy, but nice and fully cooked through.
