SOB bulk buy - corks and cages

there's someone over on the SOB site trying to
organize a group buy on belgian corks and cages. great prices, especially compared to what I paid the last time I stocked up (about $.075/bottle). Trying to round up some more people to make the minimum order. Currently looks like $125 for 1000 corks and $75 for 2700 cages minimum - so they're currently talking $0.20 for 1 cork + 2.7 cages. obviously if we can get more corks, the price continues to drop and the count would balance out.
so, anyone looking for corks+cages?

the catch, tho, is you need a) a corker b) bottles with necks that fit corks, no?

the neck size is forgiving, especially with the belgian corks. Even bottles that take standard caps work. I've not met one that I couldn't get a cork into, but some of them can be picky to get out, particularly if the carbonation is low. and yes, obviously a corker is required, but you can often rent them from wine shops if you really want to cork+cage but don't want to shell out for a corker. They can be used for other things (wine/mead) and last just about forever, so I consider them a good investment.

looks like we've hit the minimum on corks, so this one will likely close soon - I'm trying to convince the OP to hold off a bit longer just in case there is further interest. If you want in, post over there (or speak up here if you're not a member there and we can work something out).
