Re: Flora Hall

I saw this in the media too. The first thing that crossed my mind was, well, now I've heard of Flora Hall. It is a good idea though. The few brewers left that use bottles instead of cans aside, how much more litter cam this cause than all the other junk food wrappers and coffee cups? That an...

Re: Barley Days Brewery

Interesting, although it sounds a bit like sloppy brewing practices since it suggests some sort of souring bacteria got into the cans- I've sat on wheat beers before and they typically don't sour with age. I wonder if there were some wild yeasts on the cucumbers; I've heard of fruited beers re-ferme...

Re: Modern trends

I know the light lager trend has been brewing (sorry) for a while, and is part of chasing a session market, including radlers and hard sodas (spritzers?). But I wonder how much is influenced by the closing of bars. I can see people choosing packaged alcohol on the basis of when and where they are g...

Re: Modern trends

So over the last few years the "trends" seem to have been IPAs, NEIPAs, and then starting last year, everyone seemed to have some type of sour. This year? By my observation, there have been quite a few "Mexican Lagers" introduced. Not judging, but definitely not as exciting for ...

Re: Town Brewery

Anyone else think these guys are awesome? I just placed a $75 order actually an hour ago, they’ve got 4 good ones in stock So it turns out Town released not 1 but 3 new beers today, the IPA I had been anticipating, as well as a DIPA and a pale ale. Town is by far one of my favourites as of late. Th...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I am having a Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout for the first time, the non-oaked version. I like the bit of roast and rich chocolate, I also find the caramel sweet element and green-woody hops are a little strong. I love this one, personally I enjoyed it most at around 1 1/2 yrs old as I find that ...

Re: Who are the best choices for cider?

Collective Arts does ciders. Granted I don't know a whole lot about cider, but I liked their Local Press when I tried it. Thornbury Honey Crisp too, although that might be part bias because honey crisp apples are my absolute favourite variety.

Re: Modern trends

Any thoughts on Town Breweries Chill as Frig I liked it, really easy drinking kind of a lawnmower beer that I like to drink while working around the house. I'm ordering some more tomorrow since they're releasing a new IPA that will probably be excellent. Editing to add: Somehow I missed Beyond the ...

Re: Modern trends

Which lagers are worth seeking out right now Sean. I also ordered a 4 of Ice Cold Beer to try Well definitely Godspeed as established now. From what I see on their shop right now I'd highly recommend the Otsukaresama dortmunder, it's excellent. Can't go wrong with any of their stuff, but since we'r...
