Best Ontario Beer to Stockpile?

Post by Cass »

So I was thinking about what's the best Ontario craft beer(s) to stock up on before the tax holiday ends. Ones that'll stay good/age well the longest. Any thoughts?

I was thinking about this, too.

I assume no IPAs, most added adjunct stuff, and higher alcohol may be preferable.

I've always been a fan of GLB's Pompous, but it's already pretty reasonably priced. Sonnen Hill's beer is a total of 23% off pre-holiday prices.

Interprovincial beer sales would be really nice right about now.

Gotta be looking at big beers. Imperial stouts and whatnot. Double tempest comes to mind.

Just ordered some DT due to this post. Had to get it delivered to Georgetown as they still don't deliver to the Waterloo area.

Ha, I looked at it and decided not to bother ordering because they don't deliver to Guelph.

Nice! Kind of funny to see Faxe alongside Amsterdam's beers on their sale page. I wonder if they make Faxe at the local brewery now (they must).

I would assume so due to the Faxe is in 473ml cans. Same thing at Waterloo Brewing: Carlsburg available online and in store, also in 473ml cans.

I believe their physical location is closed. Perhaps you could check in to see if you can pick up.

My 23% off calculation is Taxed price - tax - 13% =77% of taxed price.

Not Ontario (forgive me) but I loaded up on some St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout which is on sale for $2.45 per can until Feb 2 and Jolly Pumpkin Oro which is on clearance for $3.45 per can. I'll be curious to see what the LCBO puts on sale Feb 3.

Well that was a bust. Amsterdam just cancelled my order, said they don't deliver to Georgetown any longer but they haven't updated their system yet.

Yeah, I should have just said "beer" vs. Ontario. I was thinking about beer by the case to really stock up & save!

Be wary. Boneshaker has shifted to a larger can, so this 473ml can is possibly older stock.

GLB has Octopus, HazeMama and Lake Effect at $66.37 for a case right now.
I think there are all normally $75 a case so even better deal than usual.
Last weekend I finished the case of Lake Effect I got back in November and I enjoyed every can of it.
There's also Karmageddon DIPA available for $84.95 a case.

I would also have loved to grab some Amsterdam Double Tempest, but they have no delivery options to KW area.
