Here's how it works. They remain two beers with wildly different scores and reviews until RateBeer decides they are the same thing. Which they then are.

I'm kidding but is this really not just a pale ale they are calling a Scottish ale because it sounds cooler? To many that's like saying Irish Ale, it means nothing per the style. (The USA Great Lakes version may be another story.)

Smashbomb. After the off bottle I had a month or so ago I had switched to Mad Tom. Decided to give this another go. And it's great. The Smashbomb I'm used to.

The 94 TO, was fantastic!, syrupy, with some candied orange, tangerine peels, hints of fruitcake and brandy in the nose with a caramelized, toasted maltiness character with some candied peach, orange peel, marmalade flavours and a brandy liquorish backbone. Finishes in warmth brandyish, fruity, sweet maltiness. I got lucky a year ago on ebay, it's where i got my bottle.

Rogue Dead Guy Ale - fruity, lightly toasted, and malty-sweet with an excellent drying spiciness. I need to drink this more often.

Celt Experience Native Storm - stupidly fresh-tasting; robust lemony bitterness clashes against a nutty brown ale base. Bold flavour for the weight. Reminds me of Box Steam Dark & Handsome.

Muskoka DCCS - fantastic shape. Cranberries are fully present!
Flying Monkeys - 12 minutes to destiny - from a wizard of Odd tap. A really nice beer. Fresh, piney, citrus, great bitter finish

And both at Kickoff in Waterloo!!
Well done!

I feel the same way, had them back to back and I find the Southern Tier a little too sweet.
I think a lot of people feel this way. I also find the Southern tier too sweet and think that the hophead has a better flavour. The other benefit is that the hophead has less alcohol and is about half the price; all pluses in my book!

Cheers! I'm enjoying a Lupulus right now too, that is gorgeous stuff fresh. I have not had a bad brew from Charlevoix.

A flat-ass Bourbon Angel's Share. God I can't wait to clear this brewery out of my cellar.
