Great Lakes Project X - 2nd Thurs of each month
Hello,
I went to this and it was a good time. This bar has a number of good taps which they tell you all about on their facebook page before you go; they also tell you what they'll be having in the near future. The bar is a good size, they had a band and we could still have our conversations which was good there were a lot of brewers here, bar owners, generally well versed beer people to talk to. And talk we did!!!
Also, there were way more women here than at any other beer event I've been to. I would think the fact that there was more going on than just beer drinking and it was International Women's Day might've had an influence. Either way, this is a good thing.
Now I come to the beer, all casks, 4 in total (hope I don't miss one). Spiced, Grapefruit, Pumpkin, and Oranges. I preferred the pumpkin because it was barrel aged, others preferred the other ones; personal taste preference; I hate grapefruits, so that one was out. I found the spiced ale a bit too spicy but I liked the orange peel one. You could taste the beer best in the pumpkin and orange peel ones.
Congrats, ladies you did a fine job! Keep up the good work
I will definitely attend another one of Great Lakes Project X event even if this requires a little bit of a trek for me.
Cheers,

I'm guessing there will be a more official announcement coming, the next Project X is coming up next Thursday (April 12th) and will be at the Victory. It'll be a porter night, with (if I remember correctly) 5 porters available, including a baltic porter that Lackey and I made in December. Should be a fun night!

that was a stellar event! Thanks Great Lakes.
We got so caught up in all the other porters that we almost missed the Robust Porter. So glad I managed a glass of that near the end of the night. Currently Incarcerated was my other favourite. My friends loved Harry Porter vanilla as well as the bourbon-aged.
Which porter will be making it into bottles at the brewery?

Good event as always. I think the turnout may have been a bit much for the space at Victory but the beers were great. Fish and chips was a healthy sized portion. I love their dill dip for the fires. Nom nom nom!
My favorite beers were the Baltic Porter and the Robust Porter, the latter of which I think has strong potential as a regular release. The Bourbon Barrel was solid as well but a lot of bourbon for my own tastes, so I enjoyed it in small quantities whereas I could probably drink the Robust all night.
