It is easy to let the glass sit and warm a bit, I don't mind that, it is a small price to pay for getting a quality, fresh pint. I like the way this beer, true to style, isn't over-hopped. The hops evidently are earthy English ones, not Chinook or Cascade or Williamette (which in my view do not really suit the brown ale style). The only thing I'd change in County is to give it a little estery character. Neither County, Maclean's Pale nor Peculiar shows a fruity note. This would confer the final English touch. But they are very good as they are. Any English brewer who cares about real ale would be impressed and the only reason I keep talking about England is not through some undue obeisance to the birthplace of fine top-fermented ale but because the best of those beers (in cask form) are amongst the world's great drinks. They still set the standard, but my hat trick shows we can do as well.
