How do you clean your glasses?

Post by phirleh »

Everyone knows the run-of-the-mill dishwasher is verbotten, and dishsoap can play havoc on your head retention, how do you get your glassware clean. Hot water and a clean towel? A slightly abraisive salt to clean scrub the inside of a glass and then rinsed and dried? (I like this option) Any other methods, I'm curious.

I had no idea that there was link between disk soap and head retention.

I have always cleaned my glasses with a clean dish cloth and a sink full of dish soap. Hmmm...

A bit of kosher salt at the bottom of your glass with hot water, and then rinsing with a lot (a lot) of cold water. Leaves the glass spotless and without scent or residue. You could also run the dishwasher without any soap, if you're so inclined.

I generally use this with just my own drinking glasses. With guests, I'll use a soapy sponge. But they don't necessarily get to use my fancy glassware!

I ask my wife and hope to hell she doesn't whip the glass at my head.

And if you can manage to rinse them while they're still 'wet', that helps a lot too.

If you really want to be anal follow the hot water with a cold water rinse. Hot water from the tap will have more minerals leached from your pipes.

Says the man who instead of cleaning his glasses, just breaks them after using them.

I guess I didn't mention, if you want to be really anal, just use new glasses all the time.

That's my girlfriend's theory. Or she just wants to cut down on the number of glasses that I have. :-?

With one of those little microfibre cloths that come in your glasses case.

Although when the baby rips them off my face and sticks them in her mouth, sometimes some spray cleaner and a paper towel.
