My biggest complaint about last year's funk night was the lack of maturity in most beer. Looking at some of the lead times (i.e. 4 months of aging) there will definitely be some funk character. There are at least 6 of these that i want to try.

Can't justify two $15 tickets when I'm not a fan of the funk. The girlfriend however is so we'll attend the non-ticketed session ($10 vs $30 entrance fee) and I'll take some gulps from whatever she has.

We couldn't go to the first Funk Night so she's been looking forward to this.

this is probably the closest we get to US-style beer events. down south, its now all about barrel aging and brett. but i get that its not for everyone.

my only warning is that stuff will definitely run out. not sure which will be the big demand beer, but i assume that Bellwoods will sell out.

Howdy,

I /think/ some of these beers have been underway since last October.

And I know that some of the House Ales beers are from December / January.

Plans for this year's event were being hatched the evening of last year's :)

Does anyone know if the email confirmation on my phone will suffice for a ticket? Or do I need to print off a hard copy? Or will they just have a list at the door?

for those who don't have tickets and plan to show up for the post-dinner, what time do you guys recommend? I am coming from out of town and don't want to eff this up or wait in line longer than necessary. Have not attended previous funk night events so I don't really have a frame of reference (though I am familiar with Volo and its limited confines).

Depends how long you are willing to wait. If it were me I'd bring a book/phone/entertainment item and get there fairly early and plan to wait a fairly long time. With so many beers on tap, I can't imagine many of the early birds will be in a rush to leave... I am basing that on nothing but speculation though.

I've got one ticket for admission to the early bird session and because I'm flat out at work I'm going to be unable to attend. Any takers? Email me at

i'd show up at 9ish. maybe 10. that's when it might start to peter out. i would not show up at 8 unless you're hoping to wait in line. i doubt the 6-8 crowd will be leaving after 1-2 pints.

Check Twitter #FunkNight -- I've seen a couple people advertising they have some unused tickets.

Well, damn.

That was a great event. I tried most of the beers. Totally insane.

How I see it: last year -- kindergarden.

This year -- high school.

Next year -- post doc.

Damn.

Imma gonna have to figure out something totally insane.

Great event. Some really solid beers, I think the House Ales Napoleon and Amsterdam Boxer were amongst my favorites, but there were lots of other good ones.
