I've always favoured the Howe Sound John Mitchell Series (be it the Pothole, Total Elipse or Pumpkin) as perfect sharing beers. You're right it's a lot of flavour for one person in a single sitting, but they're the perfect size for two people! I've found the topper to keep it carbonated for at least another 24hrs, so no worries there.

Howe Sound PumpkinEater is a very, very good one - half way to Imperial like ST PumKing, but not as sharp and strong. A fusion of the best pumpkin ales so far IMO.

I probably just need to try it again - last night I just found it quite boozy. I'll still got half a bottle, so give it another go...

I split a daytime bottle with a friend yesterday, and loved it. Great way to spend a late afternoon. I found Yellow Snow at Summerhill, but that's the only place listed on the LCBO website so far.

Liking the second half of the bottle much more tonight. I'm drinking it a little colder. Still got some carbonation, though a little less and kinda casky...ah, I'll probably get another one or two before the season's done!

At Weston crossroads Karmeliet was totally hidden from view behind a box of Kwak on the bottom shelf. Me and a fantastically helpful staff member (a totally rare breed indeed) spent a lot of time looking for it in the back and every where else. Hmm, if I were into conspiracy theories I'd think someone did that on purpose to hoard away and buy gradually.

On another note, I spotted a few boxes of St Martin Brune sitting inconspicuously towards the back of the store. $2 a pop.

I was pumped to find both the Karmeliet and Kwak locally... Glad to see those made it this far north. Picked up 3 bottles of Pumpkineater too!

Haha yeah I remember after work last week trying to find the Triple Karmeliet for 10 minutes.. and the I saw the bottle caps behind the Kwak. I mentioned they should move it but I guess it didn't sink in.

I agree with you. I found it boozy and not particularly pumpkin-y. Reminded me more of a Belgian Dark than anything else. That said, it was quite nice and a good brew overall, just not what I was hoping for.
