Well my nephew's toy Yorkie has been gone 5 days since mysteriously vanishing while near the house. This doesn't look good. Small pets do get picked off by foxes and large birds when a nearby area is being developed since it drives out the food sources of predators.
I hope you guys have something more celebratory to toast, but today I drink to this 1) Joey was an extremely gentle, loyal friend to us, and 2) I hope whatever happened to the little guy he is free of any kind of suffering.

I have never been fond of dogs due to an incident when I was 6-7 years old when I was being chased in a park by a Labrador or Golden Retriever. While the dog was playing, I was running for my life. That incident scarred me for quite a while.
I don't have a problem with dogs now, but I'm not one to make an effort to play with one , however, they seem to all like me. That being said, I hold a soft spot for small dogs. I know its not a "manly" thing, but I don't care.
If I were to ever get a dog (unlikely due to the shifts I work and the responsibility involved) it would definitely be either a Yorkie or Corgi.
For Joey, I drink a Twice as Mad Tom., or Madderrer Tom as I like to call it.

We had an indoor cat go missing for several days a couple of years ago. She hadn't an ounce of street savvy, and our property is close to a ravine with a population of foxes, raccoons, and, so my neighbour tells me, coyotes. All under the close eye of a kettle of hawks.
She's beside me as I type this. Maintain a glimmer of hope, and keep the porch light on.
Best wishes.

Thank you. Sounds like Beaches area. Yes, domestic pets in peril may revert to their protective 'feral' instincts such as hiding during the day which makes them hard to find, and cats seem to be quite good predators for survival means. Your story makes sense.Steak Andersson wrote:We had an indoor cat go missing for several days a couple of years ago. Now a toy Yorkie, that size dog would not really exist in nature, let alone find food to survive several cold nights. This is not an animal of prey, even a wild dog would eat it.
All I can say is if a miracle brings Joey back, they are going to walk him properly, and leash him only in safe yard areas as required by law. This was to blame, not whatever may have took him. Animals like this aren't literally just toys for our comfort and amusement, they have creature needs that must be taken seriously.

As a dog owner myself, I can sympathize with you on this one. I hope he turns up OK.
