Marche Omni bought out one of the owners.. and he was the main beer guy. His last day was Nov 30th. So the beer selection will drop off, and the prices have skyrocketed. For example, I was in yesterday and DDC Solstice D'Hiver was 14.99+tax when last year it was 9.99$ at the same place.

Looks like my Omni days are over. On the bright side I stopped into the SAQ and their shelves were full. I did a little experiment to see what I could get for 77$ at the SAQ (the same amount I paid for westy 12):

2 of the larger bottles were 10$ each too

Sad to hear. I had family that wasn't too far from Omni and loved to pop in to pick up a few bottles to have with supper. Used to love those Unibroue sales they had there.

That's too bad. In that case, I'd once again recommend Depanneur Rapido for those who don't feel like make the drive out to Broue Ha Ha

I may have to give La Brulerie another shot. Same distance for me as Omni.

You guys should check out La Trappe à Fromage on St-Raymond. Seems like a less popular spot for beer, couple of days ago I spotted LTM Baltic Porter 2011 and DDC Momentum 4-pk from last winter/spring. And you can buy singles unlike Omni, where 12oz beers are mostly 6 packs. Seems cheaper than BrouHaHa too.

Worth a visit IMO

The SAQ now carries Bruton Momus and Cuvee des Trolls.

The Carriere SAQ has over 200 bottles of St. Bernardus ABT 12. Other stores in the area have stock as well. $8.75 total per 750 mL bottle.

Bummer to hear about Omni; that was my go to when visiting the inlaws in Ott.

My fav summer purchases there were DDC rescousse and LTM keller; does anyone know where to get these now?

(I'm cutting through Gatineau next week to a cottage, with the family, so my beer search time is limited...)

Omni actually isn't too bad. I guess some people complained after they raised their prices and they are almost back to normal. It's still worth a visit.

Yeah, and even at their low point, I think they still had a pretty solid stock of DDC, not sure about LTM. Right?

That said, unless going to Broue Haha (or the new one in Aylmer) is REALLY inconvenient I wouldn't bother with Omni.

will be going up in a couple of weeks. I've seen them before in Montreal, but do any of the gatineau stores sell the 5 litre cans of Simple Malt Cascade IPA?

I've seen them at a few places. Broue Ha Ha has or at least had them. In fact, they're regularly on sale if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I haven't specifically seen them lately (haven't been over in a few months) but Broue Haha has typically had them. I thought I saw them often enough at Omni as well. Just email the broue haha guy ahead of your trip. He'll let you know the stock for sure, and I bet he'd put one away for you.

Thanks for the info, guys.

I ended up at Brou Ha HA, bought DDC blanche, aphrodisiac, rescousse, and LTM keller and sticke alt, all of which were awesome!
