Craft brewery planned in Dundas

Post by zane9 »

This is great news. The Hamilton area has been a wasteland for craft breweries.

Have a look. http://www.hamiltonnews.com/news/craft- ... in-dundas/

Oh hells to the yes!

Might be time to go over to Flat Rock to get a feel what their plans are in terms of production/styles etc. I'm hoping the cross talk with the winery opens some neat barrel aging oportunities. I'm always hoping for more wild/sour offerings, but that may be a tough sell to wibe folk. You never kbow though, maybe Madronich is the next Vinnie Cilruzo!

I believe Flat Rock is a winery that has done quite a bit with Amsterdam. I recall a beer/wine dinner they did where they made a collab sour cherry impy stout, and I believe they provide a lot of the wine barrels to Amsterdam - possibly other OCBs as well. Could actually be promising.

Nice building too: http://goo.gl/ItVtO

Let's just hope NIMBYism doesn't strike.

Yeah - whenever I'm seeing news about a new brewery in the province, I honestly am not usually paying that much attention, but Flat Rock is the real deal and I can only imagine this will be good!

That would really be a shame, especially since these guys seem to really want to focus on the process and not just churning out flats of beer.

I wish there was a brewery in my backyard...

The location is mostly commercial, so the NIMBY problem should be minimal. The bigger problem will be the permitting process. City Hall is notorious for endless process navel-gazing and endless delays.

It's restaurateur.

Unless he calls his company Flat Rock Cellars winesmakery.

Can we keep this thread on track?

In December I heard rumours of 2 craft breweries starting up in Hamilton. If this one is the first to announce, I wonder when we'll hear from #2?

All good news for the area, in any event.

Team Hamilton needs to meet!

Happy to hear this. Dundas is my hometown and it'll be nice to have a (hopefully?) solid option for local craft when I visit my parents. Excited to watch the developments on this one.

I heard of 2 also, just don`t know who the 2nd is... I`m just up the escarpment from Dundas in Waterdown, I can bike there...only problem is biking back up Sydenham Road. There are a few of us BT`ers in the Hammer, here`s hoping there will be a good tasting room there.
