Rations!

Post by Tapsucker »

So it appears we are in for long weekend. As long as the army isn't called in to rescue us. :P

What beer rations do you have on hand to get you through? I think I have plenty of different winter seasonals, stouts etc. Not to mention my own homebrewed imperial stout and some dopplebock brewed last year. I think I'll have a couple good nights with an excuse to dig in. Especially after digging out.

Despite this, I may head out for a pint tonight or tomorrow. I always find the bars livelier when people get snowed it. Especially commuters who give up on travel and decide to stay in town for the night.

Several stouts kicking around the cellar. Thinking of opening a Dark Horse Fore when I get in tonight.

Well, I'm moving on Saturday, so I've reduced my stockpile drastically (easier to drink and get new, than move full ones). But I've got some Boneshaker, Twice as Mad and Steam Whistle on hand, plus I'm getting a keg of Pompous Ass for the move day for the thirsty friends hauling all my crap. I also have whiskey. A Forty Creek Copper Pot, Ardbeg 10 and a stock Bushmills. Good to keep you warm on the snowy cold nights....

A few bottles of Amsterdam Vicar's Vice will be my highlight I think, but also just purchased La Buteuse and Beaus Winterbrewed. And one Pothole Filler left in the cellar. That should do it.

After ten minutes or so of bitching at the old hand me down snow blower that wouldn't start (funny how it worked fine on a warm dry day in in October when I tuned it up and put fresh gas in), followed by an hour and a half of digging, I'm rewarding myself with a Tempest. And then maybe a nap...

If that gas has been sitting in there for last 4 months without antifreeze, ya likely have jelly in the bottom of the tank

Could be right. There was stabilizer in it and in a warmish garage, but I can't speak for the lines and carb. I think I'd rather dig than push that beast around anyway.

My work decided to remain open despite 60% of us calling in sick, and our boss snuck out the back during lunch and has yet to return. If I'm unlucky enough to make it home after 8 I'm saying fuck the shovelling and I'll drink some Tempest while watching the snowplow do his thing.

Tried to dig myself out, but resigned to cooking dinner instead...splitting a Bellwoods Nelson Sauvin with my wife, and might crack something stronger later...

Yeah, three bouts of shovelling for me too. There was nothing in it but a couple of Old Forester bourbons at that point.
