Toronto Beer Week 2014 - September 12th - 20th
Thought I'd start a catch-all topic about Toronto Beer Week 2014 (5th anniversary!) as some of the events are starting to pop up already.
First one - craft beer cruise on Saturday, Sept. 13th:

We're doing an event with Indie - a night of barrel aged beers.

Good thing mine isn't barrel aged!groulxsome wrote:Tough for any homebrewers who made a oak aged beer, having folks who had just had actual barrel aged beers to compare it against. But who would do that... Oh. :/lister wrote:Booked! An all Indie weekend with that and the homebrew tap takeover.

I figure if you like them then that's great, if you don't, well, fuck you!

I'm interested in trying mine as I did a slightly tweaked version at home that I finally get to try tomorrow.

I'm happy to announce that the Toronto Public Library has a couple of beer programs during TBW for the first time! Both will take place at the Sanderson branch (327 Bathurst, at Dundas St W).
Homebrewing 101 - Sat Sept 13th. 1-4pm.
Have you ever wanted to make your own beer? See how simple it is with a guided demonstration from the Amsterdam brewery.
This is intended for people new to homebrewing.
Books & Brews - Thurs Sept 18th. 7-8pm.
Calling all hopheads and book lovers! Join us in a celebration of beer with authors Stephen Beaumont ("The World Atlas of Beer"), David Ort ("The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook") and Jordan St. John ("Ontario Beer"). They will be talking about why craft beer matters, the history of beer in Toronto, pairing beer and food, and what the future may hold for craft beer in Ontario.
It would be great to see some Bar Towel folks at both events. To register for either, please call 416-393-7653.
