Anyone try the Heather Ales Fraoch 22 Auchentoshan yet? I freaking hated it. Reminded me of Radical Road's Canny Man, which I also hated. Too much scotch nose on Fraoch 22 took so much away from the beer for me. If I'm going to drink scotch, which I love, I want the warming burn of it... I will not try anymore beers that are aged in scotch barrels, I don't think. I don't think it translates well into beer. The 22 also had a very, very earthy taste that to me almost tasted like a dry, dusty dirt.
The reviews are mostly great for this beer though, so I guess it just isn't for me. I even returned my second bottle.
Cool re-sealing cap though! It's too bad they probably added 2 or three bucks to the price of a bottle just for that.

I also bought two and returned one. Still haven't got around to opening because like you I hated Canny Man. Expecting more out of this because I have REALLY enjoyed the Ola Dubh line matured in Highland Park casks.

I wanted to like it... I really did... but honestly, the smell of scotch just turned me off too much being that it's a beer. It had a lot going on flavour-wise, but just wasn't for me at all... and I am a fan of the original Fraoch.
I have a bottle, but havn't opened it yet. I think i will like it, asI really enjoyed the Canny Man....although I'll admit i found it a bit tough to finish alone. I really like all different styles of Scotch, and i also enjoy each beer i've had aged in Scotch barrels so far. I'll report back once i open it. I do agree with you about the extra $ for the resealable lid.......not sure it's worth it.

I'm a big Wheat/Wit fan and thought it tasted really meh.
Well you must not have very good taste! (kidding.)
Honestly I think this one leans slightly towards a farmhouse ale with barrel treatment, at least in the appeal, it's less 'clean' because of the oak barrel. So that's more the audience for it. I too like good classic Witbier and this is just a different thing AFAIAC.
FULLER'S LONDON PORTER
United Kingdom | Fuller Smith & Turner P.L.C.
LCBO 369181 | 4x500 mL | $ 11.80
FULLER'S LONDON PRIDE
United Kingdom | Fuller Smith & Turner P.L.C.
LCBO 369140 | 4x500 mL | $ 11.80
Are those 4x500ml cans or are they bottles? I often wonder why more Fuller's beers don't make it over here. I mean they seem to do pretty well. Back before the format change, most LCBO's always carried a good amount of Pride and ESB. Plus the fullers brewery feature seemed to do well and the Vintage Ale seems to mostly sell out every year. I really wonder why they don't expand the product line.
That said I had a bottle of 2013 vintage ale last night. Man it was tasty.
I saw some fullers at the SAQ last week and it was in a new shape bottle, not sure if the lcbo is getting the same thing

That bottle and the London Pride are available at the Beer Store in the singles area.
SAQ has had Fuller's in cans for awhile. At this point I really wonder why an established brewery would make the switch from cans to bottles. Especially one that has to worry about shipping their beer across on ocean (both from a quality control and a shipping cost(weight) issue).
Just on a side note I emailed Shepherd Neame a few weeks ago to let them know that the bottle of spitfire I had from the LCBO was not nearly as good as a pint I had from a local pub. They informed me that Spitfire in 500ml cans is being launched in the LCBO in the fall.

Yeah I'd prefer cans. No light issues and they're a more convenient fit for my fridge.

Yay! I don't buy Spitfire nearly enough due to the clear glass bottles.
