NYC - places to eat? Good beer also helps

Looking for something in Manhattan. Someplace with a nice (i.e. romantic) vibe. More interested in good, unique food than an impressive tap list (we'll be hitting the beer places too, just need some recommendations for a nice place to eat).

Back in 2011 we went to Cask Bar and Kitchen (http://www.casknyc.com). The food was good, good tap list. Right near Rattle & Hum and Gingerman too.

It didn't have the greatest tap list (although I did have an SNPA). But the food was really good (especially the potato salad that came with my burger) and the place itself and the atmosphere was really awesome.

How "nice" are you talking? Grammercy Tavern is a very good restaurant with a good beer list, but is not cheap. They do have two rooms, and the Tavern is more reasonably priced than the dining room.

Gramercy Tavern would be my recommendation for a nice dinner in Manhattan. The Dining Room is quite expensive, but the Tavern/Bar side is reasonable and doesn't require reservations. The beer list is excellent. Easily my most memorable meal in 7 visits to NYC over the last 10 years.

I'd also recommend Paulie Gee's over in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for a NY pizza experience. It's got a local vibe and it's one block from a pier that faces Manhattan, which is cool for taking pictures. The beer list is nothing special but Torst is nearby.
