Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Should Ontario lower the drinking age to 18?

Discuss beer or anything else that comes to mind in here.

dude, it's Robert F'ing Pollard. if he isn't drunk when on stage, something's wrong.
just saw him on Friday in Grand Rapids. didn't think he'd make it through the set. seriously looked completely gone. somehow pulled it together.

From 15 to 25, when does one begin to drink responsibly? I think its more related to one's aptitudes rather than one's age.
when you treat alcohol as a vehicle to get SMASHED versus enjoying it for the taste, then it results in irresponsible drinking.
(except at Toronto beer events. then EVERYONE is drinking irresponsibly)

Unfortunate imagery in your choice of words! ;)

Copy that - there are, and there should events of excess that are culturally healthy.... Mondiale, Oktoberfest München, or any other controlled wildness and fun that forges a stronger societal bond. Shutting that down makes a society not healthier but more crazy, and a city like Toronto can use that maintenance of sanity.

I agree with pretty well all of the comments above. They are all too sensible and logical to actually be implemented, however, especially in the regrettable health-nanny political climate that MADD and others contribute to in this province.

The age 21 limit in some parts of the US is ridiculous. Why is alcohol the one thing you have to wait three years for? Minors can use cars and guns (?!?!) but when it comes to evil alcohol... tut tut, can't allow that. Fucked up Americans.
as Robert Pollard sang, you have to be 21 to drink but you can be 18 to go and die for your country.
Here in Canada you can go die for your country at 17 with your parents consent. Or you can join the reserves at 16. Very few countries allow a 16 year old to enlist, and we are one of them.
