What's your favourite spirit for toddies?

Post by JeffPorter »

I know we've done this before, but seeing as the weather is miserable, and my whole family has a cold, wondering how people get through their colds with hpt beverages.

Whiskey? If so, what kind?
Brandy?
No Alcohol at all?
Any extras that you add?

Right now I'm having a lemon ginger tea, tea spoon of honey, and 2 oz of 40 Creek. With a slice of lemon and a cinnamon stick.

Being from Scotland.....has to be scotch. Been drinking hot toddies the same way since i was 8 or so. Heavy on the whisky(about 1/3 of the drink),honey, lemon and boiling water. I always have a bottle of Famous Grouse on hand, just for hot toddies. I've tried using Rye,Brandy and Rum, and it doesnt seem to work the same, IMO. Johnny Walker Red is another one i'll use.

Still sick - I have no real blended "stock" scotch but should probably pick up a bottle just for that. Just have expensive-ish single malts. Might try bourbon tonight.

I'm currently sick as well. Hit me on Saturday. Personally I try to stay away from booze altogether when I'm sick. I have a tendency to have a beer or two a day before I should and that always makes me feel worse, so this time I'm gonna hold off and see where it takes me.
I used to sell beer. Now I don't.

50-50 blend of red wine and NeoCitron. Wake up in the spring and deal with it then.

Yeah alcohol makes my sinuses worse, so I try to avoid it as well... Especially if I'm taking meds.

I'd never mix alcohol and acetaminophen... I already do enough damage to my liver!
