Durham Oyster Stout

Post by old faithful »

Well, I sampled the oyster stout at beerbistro at lunch today. It is very good. The oyster taste is subtle but that is fine with me, it seems to manifest as a faint saline quality and probably adds complexity. The stout is silky smooth but offers taste not just texture. This stout is one of the few I like on nitro, this is stout as it was meant to be. I am quite sure if you were tasting oyster stout on Isle of Manx in, say, 1950, or 1890, it would taste like this - if you were lucky. Fine effort, our micros are getting good.

Where is this currently available? Is it Starfish or Oyster Boy that normally carries it?

I'm pretty sure it's Starfish.
