Three Brewers - Richmind-Adelaide Centre

On Sunday I often do a long walk from St. Clair and Spadina. I wended down Yonge to Wellesley, Volo hadn't opened yet, so kept going, ended at Queen's Quay LCBO, bought some white wine, then back up to the core area, was thinking of stopping at Six Pints, I heard their Imperial Stout should be out. However, I turned left towards First Canadian Place because I wanted to use an ATM there.

Coming out on Adelaide and walking towards University to take the subway home - "neck and back aching" as Moe Berg presciently sung in I'm An Adult Now - I saw that Three Brewers has opened in the Richmond-Adelaide Centre. So I walked in. The decor is swish, very cool-corporate yet with all the indicia of the Gallic chain in evidence: the shiny copper rig for the draft taps, the glassed-in mini-brewery, faux stamped-tiled roof, etc. The bar area is relatively small as the dining room proper is on the second floor.

Quite a refit. I like their beers once in a while and decided on the Brown which was actually delicious. Slightly sweet, grainy, not complex but tasty in the best possible way. Also, no yeasty harshness in the background, which is a good harbinger, perhaps the beers have been tweaked. Had a nice chat with the barman, named Kelly, who knew his stuff and is a definite asset there.

Seemingly not a propitious place for a nice drink on a Sunday - I was almost alone there in the rather sterile business core - it was most enjoyable, which goes to show you never can tell.
