Looking for the original Bar Towel blog? You can find it at www.thebartowel.com.
We have a trivia question in order to register to prevent bots. If you have any issues with answering, contact us at cass@bartowel.com for help.
Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Welcome to the new Bar Towel Forum!
We've found a design theme that has some similarities to the old board, and over the next little while I'll do what I can to tweak it so the experience is similar to what it was.
However, I'm sure everyone will find the new software to be a big improvement - you can change your profile, etc. We've also pruned the user list of a huge # of the bots (hundreds of thousands) so that's cleaned up too. And search works!
And welcome new registrants! If you had registered in the past but was unactivated, I'd suggest re-registering as you can do that yourself now. I'm truly sorry for everyone who couldn't register - the bots won that war but hopefully we're in better shape moving forward.
If anyone finds anything weird about the board, post it up and I'll check it out.

I finally have an account to post. Was always funny reading through and about to post a reply and remembered I didn't actually have an account. Thanks for the upgrade, looks good.

Now we all need to get with the Nineties and upload a decent user avatar image.
I take it a slightly larger res file is now possible. The question marks look so accusing. WHO IS THIS PERSON??? Thanks Cass.

Yay! Lurking got old after a year, haha.
Yay - I can interact!
By my count we have 19 new members already since the upgrade, although two of them look like spammers. I kinda doubt people in Estonia or the Cook Islands care about the Ontario beer scene. That's terrific! The place could use the fresh blood.
You know what, it mustn't have been an hour after the launch yesterday morning that bots got past the default captcha and posted some spam threads.Craig wrote:By my count we have 19 new members already since the upgrade, although two of them look like spammers. From what I've read the best way to keep the bots away is the "trivia" method, which I've put into place on the registration page. Hopefully it won't be hard for people, but may be for those under 30

Looks good, but the orange and red text seems to pop out 3D like on my phone (HTC, chrome browser). Kinda gives me a headache...
By "what you read" you mean "what I told you over drinks at Volo like 4 months ago" right?Cass wrote:You know what, it mustn't have been an hour after the launch yesterday morning that bots got past the default captcha and posted some spam threads.Craig wrote:By my count we have 19 new members already since the upgrade, although two of them look like spammers. Your advice & encouragement were obviously huge factors in getting this finally done, so thanks bud!
