An idea whose time has(n't) come?
I'm no scientist, but this seems like a solution searching for a problem:

The issue is more of a temperature one versus sunlight as far as taste goes.
In all my years of drinking beer outside in the sun, that short amount of sunlight doesn't do anything.

It'll depend on the time of year, time of day and whether there's an umbrella (don't most patios have umbrellas?), but the amount of 3MBT produced per min must be measurable. I see they haven't done that, and have instead gone with the non-blinded taste test. Maybe there's something to it (if you leave your beer in direct sunlight at noon), but I'm skeptical that this is useful.

Seems gimmicky to me....but hey, people have made lots of money with weirder inventions and ideas.

Interesting and well-written piece, Jordan! (and funny)

I have problems drinking my Avec Les Bon Veux magnums in the sun before they get warm, and my pet monkey gets tired of holding the bottle.

Huh. Well I trust your opinion considerably more than a writer who admittedly is not a beer drinker. Maybe there's something to it. Good thing I like to hang out in dank pits.saints_gambit wrote:I hate to say it, but it works.

This would normally be considered a 'first world problem', but the monkey butler aspect complicates matters.Belgian wrote:I have problems drinking my Au Bon Veux magnums in the sun before they get warm, and my pet monkey gets tired of holding the bottle.
Also, get that monkey a dolly. Forcing him to carry around a Bon Veux magnum has got to be a workplace safety violation of some sort, and I am fairly certain that the Planet of the Apes all started with the lower primates organizing labour rights unions...
