That probably wasn't meant to be taken too literally - as in Amsterdam in particular doesn't have IPA but soon will - however, as it happens a year and a half ago the guy sitting next to me at Amsterdam's Beer Temple bar was drinking a bottle of a Lagunitas beer. Quite a few stores in the Netherlands, UK and elsewhere have been selling US microbrews for well over a decade but I guess with Heineken's backing they will become even more mainstream.Anyway, you'll probably be able to get a decent IPA in Amsterdam soon. That's really the news here.
