Just to add my tip of the hat to Perry, it is a fine beer and all true beer fans will want to try it. Can't add much to Steve Beaumont's excellent review except maybe to say based on the reading I've done in 1800's brewing literature I believe this beer is very close to the London double or Imperial stouts of that time, it is truly a taste of history. By one classification, "Single" stouts were 6-7%, double, 8-9%, Imperial, 10-11% and Russian, anything over 11%. Obviously these designations and their connected ABV were variable with brewer and time, and it is easy to surmise many of the stouts sold in the 1800's under one of the latter 3 designations would taste like Perry's. Again, well done, Mr. Mason!
