It's so incredibly fresh with a nose that is incredibly floral. I didn't actually know Simcoe hops could be this impressive.

Anyone try Barn Owl yet?
Had one on Friday, and it was quite delicious. Not sour, but good and tart, and the currant flavour was light and not overpowering. Overall a very solid brew, especially at 7.5%.
I'll second that...very enjoyable!skootles wrote:Had one on Friday, and it was quite delicious. Not sour, but good and tart, and the currant flavour was light and not overpowering. Overall a very solid brew, especially at 7.5%.
Didn't see any social media announcements but Bellwoods has 2 new beers in the shop - Mango IPA and Sour Petite Saison. They are $5.50 and $5, respectively.
Edit: Just tried them myself. The Sour Petite Saison is very light, not overly sour but easy drinking. The Mango IPA is very juicy (citra hops?) and resiny with a light mango taste, I highly recommend it.

Agreed...the Mango IPA was spectacular. The mango was perfectly in line with the juicy hops. I'm wondering if these were tiny batches or they were holding some back, as they seem to have sold out very quickly. The sour petite saison was fine. Seemed to have a hint of DMTS that I didn't love.skootles wrote:Didn't see any social media announcements but Bellwoods has 2 new beers in the shop - Mango IPA and Sour Petite Saison. Interesting.....I've never heard of this either until now. However, a few years ago I was in Costa Rica drinking the local lager, Imperial. Every time I drank it all I could taste was onions. My wife thought I was crazy, fuck; i thought I was crazy, but I couldn't get past it. I'd been down there a few times before drinking that beer....and yeah it's your generic Caribbean lager, but never had it tasted like onions before. Glad to get some explanation on it after all this time.
I can't say I've ever tasted it in another beer though.

A hint of it is fine....but when it's a primary flavour component, it's far from ideal. The first batch of hoppy beer from Halo had a serious DMTS problem...almost undrinkable. They've improved remarkably though.FEUO wrote: All Bellwoods beers have a hint of DMS.
