Lovebird Brewing — Meaford

Post by shintriad »

Haven't seen any mentions of this rising star yet! Easily one of the best new breweries in Ontario, IMHO. They focus on sophisticated, sessionable beers in historical styles with a lot of terroir. In 2024, their Alsatian-hopped spelt grisette In Bloom was my top-rated beer of the year, although everything I've tried from them has been well-executed and nuanced.

The brewmaster, Alex, has a Masters in Analytical Chemistry and was previously at Collective Arts, Nickelbrook and Black Bellows. They started as a contract brewery, then opened a bottle shop and snack bar, and now they're finalizing their full-time brewpub location in Meaford, Grey County (about halfway between Owen Sound and Collingwood).

They've been adding stockists mostly around Grey Highlands and Toronto, so you might've seen their charmingly branded shortboys around. Wishing nothing but the best for these guys.
