Peter, could you tell us the price? Not that it'll stop us from purchasing it, obviously, but the Chicory Stout was such a good price, I was wondering if it will be of that magnitude of value.

I see on the LCBO website that the release is slowly trickling in to the GTA stores

The price of the Liefmans has to do with Liefmans themselves. They have chosen to re-position themselves as the industry leader for the styles of beers they produce. As such have raised their prices GLOBALLY. We have kept the price lower here, than anywhere else in Canada, but I guess that is considered being greedy Peter.
Peter, you can bad mouth everyone and anyone you come across who doesn't help you sell more beer, but it's not going to get you any further in life.

Some of the LCBO deals in the past have spoiled us (cost-wise anyway) as they seem to pass on any real-cost savings whereas a US retailer would just scoop up the extra profit, almost to a fault.

I never doubted 4.95 for Goudenband was quite reasonable, given the difference American retailers charge for Liefmans, Orval, Rodenbach, et al. If these brewers want a fair piece of the action, let them - I'll pay the extra buck in Canuckville if it means brewers get a more fair share of the profits Stateside.

(I will budget for at least ten of this unusual Flemish Sour.)

I owe my friends at McAuslan an apology for trying to be funny about Liefmans pricing. I bear no grudge against them and my comments were meant to be tongue-in-cheek but may have not been taken that way so I publicly apologize to them and I'll try to figure out how to use those smiley-faces in the future.

In regards to 60 Minute pricing, should be $1.95!!! I must warn that Dogfish has raised their prices so we're not likely to see sub $2 beer from them in the future so it's a good opportunity to stock up. While you're at it, buy some McAuslan products as well! OK, did the smiley face thing work?

Just a note to say 4/6 of the new release are at the downtown Kingston LCBO. The Liefmans is to be on the shelf tomorrow and "good luck ever seeing the Dogfish Head" seemed to be the message.

Another example of store personnel knowing nothing and caring less about these releases. Dogfish Head is here, we're not imagining it! We hope to see it start hitting stores next week but we can't guarantee it...the LCBO itself can't guarantee it and there is no explanation.

My store at Applewood Plaza (QEW & Dixie) has always had a good selection in the past...this time around I have seen nothing...was promised a telephone call...nothing...because there was nothing to report I suppose. Their idea of a new beer was the Trafalgar Bock which some of you already reported on.

Checks at Sherway Gardens and 2nd Street...again...nothing...I am depressed.

When I was living in Mississauga I usually picked up my seasonals in Oakville or Toronto, usually Cooper St.

As a rule of thumb, if you're out that way & looking for new releases, never fail to check out what's on the shelves at Cloverdale Mall (Dundas St. W. & 427).

Everything in the release but the DFH (the only desirable one of the six, IMO) was out on the shelves at Wilson and Dufferin today. When I inquired about the DFH I was advised to "try in a week".

In Kingston they said 'any day and very likely Tuesday' but it's Easter week (let's also say Pesach not to forget our Jewish frends.) :D

Nice having a long weekend! The Liefman's is really creamy with notes of spice and cherry, and suprisingly easy to drink for a beer I hated seven years ago. Petrus Oud Bruin is still a fine value alternative. The Liefmans I should age a few years.

Regarding the 'best' beer LCBO in Mississauga. I've found that the location at Dundas & Mavis is tops... For instance, if you search on a seasonal release on the LCBO web site, and then find stores w/ stock, you'll see that often the Dundas/Mavis has the largest initial order...

I just checked with the WELTENBURGER KLOSTER ASAM-BOCK, and Dundas/Mavis has 79 bottles while most other locations have only 20 or 40...

No Dogfish Head showing up yet, but I can't wait...

Must be getting close, it has appeared on the LCBO website, just doesn't have any stores listing as stocking or having it in stock.
