Now's that a local! I'm glad you're able to get some decent stuff in, I know when I visit my folks and in-laws back home, where the beer store and lcbo are one, there isn't much to choose from.

A few points:

1) I've got my 1st case already! Had a few bottles this weekend, excellent stuff!!

2) Assuming this beer DOES go like Wildfire, selling out completely within a month, you have to think that's a good thing long term and that the LCBO will be more likely to continue including American Pale Ales / IPA's in their seasonal releases (and in great quantities)

3) With the Great Divide order, everyone has another excellent opportunity to get in and pick up some more great IPA

4) There's always a trip to Premier Gourmet if you're desperate.

The regular selection is crap, and the LCBO is dropping most of what beer it does have. With the new beer store across the street, they are ripping out the walk in fridge and increasing their wine/booze selection. Thank goodness there are a couple decent LCBO's in London that stock good beer.

Forgot one...

5) That the smaller brewers in Ontario take notice that an American Style IPA is selling like crazy and they work to produce their own.

I'm all done...for now. I got in early and I got in big....
Seriously, if anyone actually does miss out on getting some in the next few weeks they can always PM me.
That's very sincere and polite of you. I guess my wisecrack humor was missed, it was not said to freak you out or guilt anyone! A ton more of this beer will likely arrive very soon up so don't worry, you are more than right to move on what's available. The less time beer sits around spoiling in a warm store - the better.
__

As far as pre-calling to hold cases, it's even better to go to a REPUTABLE store  , meet someone eye-to-eye and request an Inter-Store Transfer from a store that you know has more stock. I transferred a hundred bucks' worth of St. B to Cooper and it probably cost them a little to do it. But if you trade names & numbers with someone who's the right person in charge, they will authorize an IST & call you when it arrives, as long as it's enough stock to justify it. In fact I'm sure only two cases of DFH would be enough to IST, if it doesn't materialize at your store anyway.

No, I got the humor...there just seemed to be several people posting in this thread who apparently felt buying out the currently available stock of a given store selfish and inconsiderate (even though the places I bought from are GUARANTEED to get more...that I won't be buying).

Leaving beer behind at a store only encourages the sales to be slower and reinforce the already well entrenched idea at the LCBO that these seasonal imports are not big sellers and there's no market for them. I got several store employees (including a Manager) pretty excited that a guy would doggedly call, visit and then come in and buy out all of the product at once before they even had to shelve it. One guy said; "man, I guess that stuff must be really good. We'll have to get more." Do you think he'd be saying that if it was only selling one six pack at a time over two months?

My entire purchase represents less than two percent of the entire order. Isn't the other 98% enough for the rest of you?

I've said it before, I went to great lengths to ensure I had the quantity of this beer that I wanted as soon as it became available. So I personally don't feel guilty if there are some folks sitting at home waiting for it to show up at their local store who get upset when they wander in and get told it already sold. If they did the legwork I did they would have some sitting in their cellar right now (or very soon).

I agree with you 100% Jon.

And for those in the area, St. Clair and Keele has lots as of lunch time today.

Although I'm obviously prejudiced, I encourage everyone to get out there and buy every bottle of DFH 60 they can consume in the next several months. It takes store people telling H.O. that this sort of product is in demand to make a difference. Furthermore, your comments to LCBO personnel at H.O. also help. Dollars talk and when they see that there is an incredible demand for an obscure U.S. micro they may sit up and take notice and give us more than a couple of SKU's from Anchor on the General List.

Well 48 bucks doesn't buy much these days, so it's a pretty sound deal for a two-four of the 60 minute. I was prepared to pay around sixty. This is a great brewery.

By the way, the Great Divide Private Order is being finalized tomorrow so last chance to fax in on that deal! (Not nearly as cheap as the DFH but nobody seems to mind given the rare goods.)
--edit-- oops sorry, I'm not sure if that order can still be added to by fax, just thought the 26th was the drop-dead date for Sylvia getting any orders in the mail so seemed logical. May be wrong here.

I bought 2x6 packs at Atrium on Bay this afternoon, had to ask for it, wasn't even shelved yet :) Would have bought more, but thats all i can reasonably carry. I'll grab another couple tonight when i can get out after work and dropping off the first few.

Later
