Any idea on driving time from Toronto to the store?
Be careful with the list on the website. It's woefully out of date and many of the products are not in stock. Some products that they do have are not listed there.

Your best bet is to just show up and hope for the best! (Which is usually pretty good), then stop by Cole's if you got the time.

Yes, unfortunately the list is not current. We have many new products and have been forced to drop some due to distributor problems. We have given an updated list to our "web guys" but apparently it has not gone up. If you have any questions you can always ask them on here or e-mail us. My thanks to the editor for noting us on this sites homepage.

Declare what you have and be prepared to pay an extra 28% in duties. No sence risking being barred from the states for a couple bucks. Occationally, you'll be waived right through.

Be careful and friendly though. The people that work there cannot comprehend that you'd pay $100 for the equivalent of a case of beer. They were especially freaked out when I brought over the 3L Oaked Bastard.

Barred from the states? I wouldn't think that Canadian customs had the ability to do that?

They could probably charge you with some kind of smuggling offence though.

Being polite never hurt, and saying Sir/Madam a lot never hurt.

They just want to feel secure they are in charge and you're not trying to make idiots of them. Be truthful. Don't deny what you are blatantly importing to Canada. Also don't sound vague about why you went there.

I'm planning to fly out of Buffalo airport in a couple of weeks to Mexico. Does anyone know what the customs issues are if you car has been parked in the US for a week but you yourself are not there?

Or is it simply a case of customs not knowing or caring about the difference?

AFAIK, neither. The duration customs is looking for is the length of time you've been outside of Canada. They don't care where you've been.
