Beer Store: The King Street Crawl - July 13

The following is a "satellite event" associated with the Festival of Beer put on by The Beer Store. No warranties as to how good/bad it will be! I'm out of town anyways...

No word on what beers will be available. Hmmm, makes a lot of sense for a beer event!

I'm curious. Whats on tap at these establishments?

Under normal circumstances Crush and 2 Cats doesn't have anything on tap. (Unless that has changed in the recent past.) Crush is a wine bar that has several bottles available of the best being Creemore. 2 Cats is a small lounge that serves mainly cocktails and I presume bottles of beer.

The Banknote has the usual macro suspects with Kilkenny, Stella, etc being considered premium.

So unless the OCB is heavily involved and brings in their stuff, I doubt I'm going to bother with this. Anyone go last year?

I can't see how a "Beer" event on King West whose map doesn't include the Portland Ale House (or whatever it is as i can never remember) in Amsterdam's old space can possibly be a worthwhile night out for anyone who has already had a reasonable exposure to good beer.

Could someone post a review of the Portland Ale House...I don't recall much activity on these forums about that establishment. I was a big fan of Rotterdams and their 300+ beers way back when.

According to a story in the current issue of Movie Entertainment magazine, which I picked up at a Rogers store, the Portland Ber House is supposed to be up to 50 taps by this month and 100 at the end of the year. Last I heard this spot was for sale, so if this is true it's quite the development.

I keep meaning to stop in after work and see, its not that far from my office and is generally on my way home, just never seems to happen, may have to change that in the near future.

I was at The Portland ale house on Wednesday and I think it would be unfair to currently rate this establishment, they are (hopefully) in the middle of a renovation. The patio is nice, Fair tap selection - Mill St., Amsterdam, Wellington(trailhead) others I can't recall. but don't go in to the restaurant, no air conditioning, 1 washroom with no handle just a slide bolt and the kitchen is kinda in the open at the back of the building(inside). The food was great, ate on the patio, no deep fryer so the fries are oven baked. Now that I think about it there was no one doing any work on the restaurant so maybe it is for sale as is and they are just trying to keep out of bankrupcy until they can find a buyer.
